In 2002 e-pyme S&D was accepted as a young company of new creation within the entrepreneur's initiative of the Unit for the Promotion of Companies of Gran Canaria. This was made according to the Recruitment Committee and Control agreement, the body responsible for supervising and approve the projects presented by the companies. The initiative is sponsored by four cooperative bodies: Cabildo of Gran Canaria, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Department of the Presidency and Technological Innovation of the Government of the Canary Islands and Canary Islands Technological Institute.
The core of e-pyme is formed by professionals with several years of experience in the field of new technologies and, more specifically, in the designing and developing of information systems based on Web. They started as the name Centro de Innovación para Sociedad de la Información. After that they became Centro de Investigación de la Universidad de Las Palmas, then Desarrollos Tecnológicos e-pyme S.L.L to finally become in the current Desarrollos Tecnológicos e-pyme S.L.
Since its early beginning, e-pyme has taken responsability for the design and implementation of several information systems both from public bodies and from private companies.
The company promotes the development of a cooperative working environment based on Web. It also puts into practice a new programming methodology and produces quality software which will serve as engine of future applications based on Web, as well as in different database systems and server platforms. This effort allows us to be more competitive; therefore, we can create quality Web applications in acceptable time. The first result of these considerations was the cooperative working system iDesktop. After a few years of success, it becomes ECATE —a cooperative working platform which is linked to a powerful workflow as BMP (Business Process Manager).
With a new range of products and services, e-pyme.com defines itself as a ASP company. The operational concept is straightforward. E-pyme.com identifies a function or activity that is common to a great number of companies . Then develops, distributes and manages applications and computer services from its remote data center to which many users can access both via Internet or private network. For users, the securing of essential applications from an outside provider is a profitable solution to the requirements that involves the system property, such as the initial financial investments, the problems regarding the implementation and the constant need for management, maintenance, upgrade and adaptation.
However, the technological work is just a small part of the solutions we offer as a new way of doing things. Most of these solutions are challenges which force us to the necessary cultural change in organizations and users. We believe we have perfectly understood the problem, for this reason our work not only consists of making information flow, but to provide the work from the point of view of desing, accesibility, usability, etc.
